Your Journey starts here

With its ancient origins, Yoga intends to unite body, mind, spirit and consciousness. Although Yoga has been practiced for thousands of years, modern yoga is mainly associated with the physical practice of asanas or yoga poses with controlled breathing.

Have you heard of yoga and don’t know where to start?
We’ve all been there! Yoga is meant to benefit EVERYONE regardless of age or skill level. At Heights Yoga, you will feel welcome and embraced. Whether you are an advanced yogi or someone who has never tried it, we got you! Our classes are meant to adapt to what your body and mind needs each time you walk into the studio.

Don’t know which class is best for you?

Services that support the body, mind and spirit

Create a healthy life

Hatha

A way of moving your body slowly into various yoga poses (asanas). This type of yoga focuses on controlled breathing (pranayama) while holding poses for several breaths before moving onto the next one.

Vinyasa Flow

In this Yoga approach, you move from one pose directly onto the next one. Although the pace of the flow varies from one instructor to the next, transitions are usually coordinated with your breath.

Power Flow

This would be considered a Vinyasa Flow on steroids! Similar to a Vinyasa, a Power Flow Class uses breath to transition through poses, however, the postures are more challenging and require more strength.

Fit

With the use of light weights or bands, series of high repetition exercises to challenge your cardio and muscle
strength targeting both your upper and lower body.

Yin

This style targets the deepest tissues- ligaments, joints, and fascia– with longer-held poses. A much slower-paced class, Yin’s meditative approach provides deep relaxation.

Pilates

This class provides an effective way to build and maintain a strong core, improve posture, and keep your body mobile. This is a great class for all levels and modifications are provided.

Traditional Indian Yoga class

One of our most popular classes, consists of a combination of Hatha and Vinayasa flows to challenge your strength, flexibility and cardio while emphasising pranayama (breathing techniques).

Testimonial - Kate
Although I had occasionally done yoga since I was pregnant with my first child, my practice began in earnest about four years ago (at the age of 50). I’ve been practicing at Burnaby Heights Yoga since they opened and it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say it’s like a second home to me. They have a fantastic range of classes to suit all levels. The welcoming atmosphere of the studio – especially the Earth Room – is an immediate calming influence.

I can’t say enough about the wonderful teachers and team. It’s really a special place. I highly recommend this studio to anyone with an interest in gaining the incredible benefits – physical, spiritual, and social – a practice of yoga can provide.

I love Heights Yoga for what it does for me and our community’s health and well-being. Yoga has helped me handle life stresses through breathwork, stretching and sweating it out in the infrared heated studio. Yoga has also helped me heal from a frozen shoulder, sore back, and most recent, a rotator cuff and knee injury. I don’t know what I would do without this amazing studio.

Thank you Yuen, Nash and Howie for saving yoga in our community!

The Heights Yoga team has created a space that honours the established yoga community in North Burnaby. This is no fast-paced, pump people in and out franchise; they genuinely get to know and care about the yogis that come through the door. I've been attending since they opened the studio in Dec 2020, mid pandemic. Height Yoga was determined to keep yoga accessible and available wherever and however they could. Throughout, they diligently followed ever changing government regulations, I felt safe all the way through.
The studio is gorgeous, with unique natural features, like hemp walls. The main studio is spacious, the change room is huge, complete with showers and lockers. There is an amazing variety of classes. I love that the Heights team allows the instructors to teach their own practice as opposed to following some franchise model of doing the exact same sequence over and over and over. I love the traditional Indian classes, the Sat morning Power Flow and the Sunday morning Hot Core Flow.
I'm so grateful that the studio was able to make it through all the restrictions and I genuinely feel like a valued student.
