Heights Yoga and Wellness
We came together to save a local staple and see its beloved community grow, stay healthy, and remain connected. We opened Heights Yoga and Wellness Centre (Heights Yoga) during the pandemic and at the same location where Modo Yoga Burnaby (MYB) had operated. MYB’s closure in October 2020 was a devastating loss for us, so we decided to unite forces and work towards keeping the beautiful studio open.
We knew that opening a yoga studio with a new and unknown name during the pandemic would be a challenging undertaking, but we also knew that the community needed a safe place to practice and come together. Heights Yoga was truly born out of love, community, and hope.
Meet The Owners
My love for yoga began on a journey to wellness, mindfulness, and community. Tired of dealing with stress and anxiety, I searched for an outlet to help my mind as much as my body. That is when I found yoga and its enormous benefits at the old studio.
When presented with the opportunity, I was honored to be part of this amazing team and create Heights Yoga and Wellness as a silent partner. With a background in Business Operations in various capacities, industries and sectors, and a passion for personal development, I knew I could help make this a warm, peaceful and welcoming space for all.
In late 2021, I decided to leave a prosperous organization in search for meaning. After solo travelling for some time, and participating in several transformative retreats, I returned with a focused intention: to add value to a purpose driven organization; and what better one than the one I helped form. This is how Heights Yoga and Wellness and the well-being of all our guests and team became my sole focus and priority!
With a diverse background in Business and love for Yoga, I knew I was ready to create an environment where people could practice Yoga and focus on their mind, body and spirit.Yoga has helped me build up physical strength, improve back pain, and deal with the daily stresses in life.
I know first hand the value of yoga for one’s health and well-being, and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to share Heights Yoga with the Burnaby community and beyond.
Like many that have stepped into the yoga studio, my journey began with a debilitating injury. Having torn my ACL on the ski hill, it was a stark reminder to get back in touch with my whole body health. Mind, body and soul. From the moment I set foot in the studio, I immediately fell in love with the yoga sequence and the strength, balance, dexterity and calmness I gained from being in the hot room.
Then, unexpectedly, the opportunity came to join the Heights Yoga and Wellness Team, I just couldn’t pass it up. In the past, I have worked in various settings, ranging from telecommunications to insurance. Recently, I have been blessed with the opportunity to own and operate my own business. This experience left me yearning more, a chance to watch a studio and wellness centre grow from its infancy. I hope to bring my enthusiasm and excitement into this new adventure with this amazing group in the Heights neighborhood!
